What is Tango?

Tango is an app that helps couples manage their finances! You and your partner can easily and securely link and label your financial account so you can see everything in one place and facilitate better conversations about your everyday spending and saving for the future. We also enable you to comment or add emojis to transactions to streamline communication about money and eliminate any awkwardness when it comes to managing finances with your partner.

Who is Tango for?

Tango is built for couples who are in serious relationships, engaged, or married and want to facilitate a shared view of their finances. If your assets are spread out across multiple accounts, you have a “yours, mine, and ours” set-up, or you keep your finances fully separate, Tango will help you to finally see everything in one place, allowing for more informed decision-making.

What are the benefits of using Tango?

Using the Tango app will help you to:

  • Clearly see all of your accounts in one place so you know exactly how much money you have both independently and together
  • Improve financial communication with your partner by organizing all conversations about money in one place and using our comment & emoji features to inquire about and react to specific transactions
  • Plan for the future together more easily and have more meaningful conversations with a shared view into your finances

How does Tango keep my financial data secure?

Tango uses a third party, Plaid, (the industry standard and leader in bank linking) to connect to your financial information. Plaid is certified in internationally-recognized security standards, like ISO 27001, ISO 27701, and is SSAE18 SOC 2 compliant, allowing us to keep your data safe and private with best-in-class encryption protocols like the Advanced Encryption Standard (AES 256) and Transport Layer Security (TLS). Your data is fully secure and is not shared with any third parties. 

How do I delete my Tango account?

While we’re sad to let you go, deleting an account is easy. Send a note to our support team (support@tangomoney.com) letting them know you want to delete your account and provide a reason why, and we’ll take care of it right away for you.

Pairing

Does my partner need to use Tango with me?

Yes, it takes two to Tango! Our app is a paired experience and is designed for couples to use together. That said, we understand that many relationships may have one person who is primarily responsible for the finances, so our app enables each of you to engage at your own pace.

How do I connect my Tango account to my partner’s?

Pairing with your partner is easy! When you sign up, you’ll be asked to enter your partner’s phone number. We’ll send them a text message inviting them to download the app. After your partner signs up and inputs their phone number and email, they’ll see a pop-up message in the app asking them to accept your invitation. All they have to do is click “Accept” and your profiles will be connected!

Financial Accounts

How many bank accounts can I link to Tango?

You and your partner can each link up to 20 bank accounts.

Can I choose which accounts to share with my partner?

Yes! For personal accounts, you can choose from multiple levels of visibility with your partner — you can share everything (account balance and transactions), account balance only, or keep the account private so that your partner won’t see it at all.

All information for joint accounts with be shared with your partner.

Will my partner be able to make changes to my bank accounts?

No, your partner will not be able to withdraw or transfer money from any of your linked bank accounts. When you connect with your partner in Tango, you are simply providing them visibility into your information, but they will not have access to make any changes to your bank accounts.

How often do you refresh information from my bank account?

Tango refreshes data from your bank account every 5 minutes. If you believe the information you see in Tango is outdated, please contact us at support@tangomoney.com

How do I edit my account settings?

You can edit your account type (joint or personal) visibility settings, or account name anytime! Just click the “Edit” icon from within the accounts screen to change the relevant information.

Which financial accounts appear on my dashboard?

Your dashboard will show the first three financial accounts that you linked to Tango. You can view all your accounts anytime by navigating to the Finances screen.
